Job Summary
To develop a functional banking management operating model and framework in a broadly defined business functional strategy; enabling horizontal implementation and adoption.
To drive and deliver exceptional Retail business performance, through the provision of efficient business management, powerful leadership, team development and achievement of Retail Zambia Vision and Strategic objectives.
Commercial/Business Leadership:: Enterprise leadership of a banking product or function; Coordinates activities at a product or functional level with other business areas within the Bank; Accountability for directing and controlling all organisational activities for the product or function including setting objectives and plans and implementing policies | Strategy Design and Execution: : Accountable for the setting of an end-to-end and integrated long-term commercial strategies at a Product or Functional level; Designs and develops a fit for purpose operating model and structure for the Product or Function to enable strategic execution and effective operations; Designs and oversees the implementation of strategic delivery roadmaps to enable the realisation of the desired commercial outcomes; Accountable for shaping and managing the Book of Work including facilitating investment trade offs to enable execution of the strategy | Finance/P&L: : Accountable for the financial performance of the business unit including shaping and driving the income statement, balance sheet and P&L | Control: : Accountable for ensuring an optimal and compliant control environment that appropriately balances risk appetites and customer demand with the need to grow to achieve the financial ambitions and balance sheet aspirations of the Bank

Drive and Business Direction 30%
Output:
- As leader of the Retail’s senior team, develop strategy/policy, create and implement business plans which ensure delivery of Retail Zambia goals.
- Develop in conjunction with the Retail Senior Leadership and Regional Team, Retail business plans-recommending to the Country MD, Retail capabilities required to deliver against our business aspirations
- Provide clear direction on the Retail business objectives working with the senior retail team to translate and prioritise into business performance objectives for all Retail Sectional Heads.
- Provide input into the design and development of the new approaches/processes aimed at increasing performance (i.e. sales targeting, sales management processes, reward etc.)
- In conjunction with the Retail Senior Leadership team and the marketing function, shape customer and product propositions to support performance growth in relation to Retail business
- Deliver retail performance in line with agreed targets against the balanced scorecard. These will include sales objectives, sales growth and income contribution of products sold in a non-advised way; Customer experience; Employee satisfaction; cost performance; risk and rigour management
- Visibly lead and sponsor Retail Change initiatives ensuring minimum disruption and taking accountability to ensure agreed benefits realisation
- Work together with the Retail Senior Leadership team and key stakeholders so as to ensure optimal business performance in line with the principles of value based management
Team Building 10%
Output:
- Championing the benefits of team working across the Bank
- Work closely with other directors and functional heads at senior level acting as a role model
- Build and maintain effective team leadership, through mentoring and succession planning
Risk & Control
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Absa Operational Risk Framework and internal Absa Policies and Standards.
Education
Master’s Degree: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
