Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Revenue Accountant to join their team. As a Revenue Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial recording and reporting of revenue related to sales and debtors. Your responsibilities will revolve around tracking, analysing, and reconciling revenue data, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to understand contract terms and conditions, ensuring proper revenue recognition in accordance with the applicable accounting standards (e.g., Zambia Financial Reporting Standards – ZFRS).
  • Analyze sales contracts and agreements to determine the appropriate timing and method of revenue recognition.
  • Monitor revenue streams and identify potential issues, discrepancies, or irregularities.
  • Reconcile sales transactions, invoices, and receipts to ensure accurate recording of revenue and debtor-related accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between sales records and financial reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports and presentations related to revenue and debtors.
  • Stay updated on accounting standards, regulations, and industry practices related to revenue recognition and debtors.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing relevant documentation and explanations related to revenue recognition and debtor accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance revenue recognition processes, streamline workflows, and improve data accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g.,ACCA / CIMA) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of revenue recognition principles and accounting standards (e.g., ZFRS).
  • At least 3 years experience in revenue accounting, sales reconciliation, or related financial roles.
  • Must be a fully paid member of ZICA.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Familiarity with Zambian accounting regulations and practices.
