About the Position
The Sample Prep Team Leader will work at the ALS Zambia – Kansanshi mine site.
The position will be responsible for:

Efficient and Effective Operations:
- Will be required to perform managerial duties in the absence of the Sample Preparation Manager
- Oversee the sample prep shifts and ensuring staff adhere to sample prep SOPs.
- Provide effective supervision of a shift operation to ensure daily operation targets (TAT) are achieved.
- Monitor and review Sample Prep QC results daily on GEMS and efficiently interact with affiliate labs to assist with work order entry and sample logistics through GEMS
- Should be able to communicate effectively to Sample Preparation Manager on issues relating to QC, HSE, HR, Production and Technical matters relating to Sample Preparation at:
- Attend Weekly Production Meetings
- Effectively communicate and assist with urgent or adhoc issues relating to QC, HSE, HR, Production and Technical matters to Sample Preparation Manager
- Liaise and plan effectively with all laboratory departments the workflow of sample volumes to the respective lab sections
- Assist branch laboratories in region with sample preparation related queries timeously
- Make necessary adjustments to sample preparation equipment (Jaw Crushers, boyd crusher and LM2 Pulverisers) settings and/or institute appropriate corrective and preventative measures
- Assist with Sample Preparation supplies and liaise with Sample Preparation Manager on ordering frequencies to ensure sufficient stock levels for operational continuity
- Ensure operational logs and records are maintained and updated
- Overall responsible for QC and HSE incident investigations that occurred during shifts
- Responsible for HR related matters including shift attendance, pre and post shift checks to ensure proper shift hand overs and raise concerns
- Manage NSS (non-sufficient samples) tasks in conjunction with the laboratory sections
- Train new staff on sample preparation tasks
- Fully understand and able to perform sample preparation duties within the department.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Chemistry/Science/Geology/Engineering Diploma or Degree from a recognized University or Institution and or in-depth understanding and knowledge of Chemistry.
- 3 years Laboratory experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of operating Jaw crushers and LM2 Pulverisers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is a mandatory requirement.
- Good interpersonal skills and effective in working in a multi-cultural environment.
- Sound technical knowledge of Geochemical analytical techniques.
