Mabiza Resources Limited (“Mabiza”) operates the Munali Nickel Mine (“Munali”), which is located in the Mazabuka District, 80kms south of Lusaka, Zambia. Mabiza is a wholly owned entity of Consolidated Nickel Mines Ltd.
The Mine is a modern, world-class facility with fully mechanized underground operations. To support this vision. Mabiza is seeking the services of an experienced and qualified individuals to take up the positions of:
Role: Sectional Engineer Mechanical X 1
Reporting: Mine Mechanical Superintendent
Job Purpose: Coordination of daily mechanical maintenance activities including contractors to meet set equipment availability targets.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring implementation of safety and health policies and practices in line with company requirements and in compliance with legislation.
- To effectively manage all mine mechanical fixed plant and associated infrastructure (Mechanical and Civil) requirements including condition monitoring/Reliability system
- To support the Mine Mechanical Superintendent in the execution of his functions as technical advisor on all mine mechanical fixed plant, Mobile, and associated infrastructure requirements
- Ensuring that all fixed plant Infrastructure and civil work operations are in line with the requirements of the company to meet all OHSE objectives;
- Ensuring all procedures, processes and systems in use when undertaking fixed plant and civil works are in line with company policy direction.
- Ensuring that all tools and equipment are well secured, in good order, and available for use.
- Ensuring that sufficient planning and scheduling is undertaken for all lined-up jobs/tasks.
- Ensure equipment condition monitoring and reliability system is well managed.
- Ensuring that all fixed plant equipment commissioning, service, maintenance and repair are executed to the highest acceptable standards.
- Workshop facilities are maintained at the highest acceptable standard.
- Undertake regular work site visits to check abuse.
- Monitoring and controlling expenditure to ensure that all operations are executed efficiently.
- Controlling all resources deployed to Capital Projects to ensure effective delivery of projects on time, quality and costs within budget.
- Providing guidance of repairs and maintenance works to be within budgets.
- Ensuring that all tools and equipment are well secured and available for maintenance/production.
- Controlling all resources (human, equipment, tools and consumables) deployed to regular routine jobs and Capital Projects.
- Managerial leadership practices that reflect company values and culture;
- Maintenance of high morale among all employees and demonstrating a culture of learning, achievement of results, personal accountability and integrity.
- Lead, manage and develop human capital in order to ensure adequate availability of skills within the company and core competencies for Mine mechanical and Civil
- Identification of high performers and ensuring they are well harnessed.
- Accurate reporting and the management of all agreed plans, weekly, monthly, quarterly annually and life of mine.
- Compilation of required budgets, forecasts and schedules
- Contract administration and management.
- Facilitating linkage with other department.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Degree in Mechanical or related engineering discipline.
- (6) Years’ Experience with At least 4 years’ experience in a middle management role in Fixed Plant. Experience in Mobile Plant will be an added advantage.
- Experience working at a Mining & Processing facility;
- Experience in highly mechanized mining environment is an advantage;
- Certificate in project management is an added advantage;
- Full Member of EIZ;
- Competency in use of the Microsoft office package.
