Job description:

Supporting the effective technical operation of the gold processing plant, with a focus on optimizing gold recovery processes and efficiencies.

• Oversee and enhance gravity recovery systems, including the operation and optimization of gravity concentrators.
• Conduct and supervise laboratory test work for gravity recovery, leaching, CIL/CIP, and related gold recovery processes.
• Collaborate with the Chief Metallurgist to identify and implement technical projects and improvements targeting gold recovery.
• Develop and monitor operational parameters for leaching circuits, ensuring reagent consumption is optimized for maximum efficiency and minimal waste.
• Provide guidance on carbon management in CIL/CIP systems, including carbon activity and attrition management.
• Perform regular process audits and spot checks on gold recovery processes, identifying and rectifying deviations.
• Actively liaise with Process Supervisors for troubleshooting and process adjustments in gold-specific operations.
• Partner with Engineering teams to ensure timely mill maintenance, gravity concentrator upgrades, and leach tank inspections.
• Monitor plant performance trends and compare them with best practices for gold recovery optimization, implementing solutions for continuous improvement.
• Support external technical consultants and laboratories (e.g., for diagnostic leach tests, carbon analysis, or mineralogical studies).

Innovation and Optimization:

• Research and recommend advanced technologies in gold recovery, such as pre-oxidation techniques, enhanced gravity separation, and chemical enhancements in leaching.
• Evaluate tailings for residual gold recovery opportunities, focusing on sustainable and cost-effective reprocessing methods.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree/Diploma in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
• A minimum of five years of experience in gold processing plants, with proven expertise in gravity recovery, leaching, and CIL/CIP systems.
• Familiarity with gravity concentrators (e.g., Knelson, Falcon) and gold recovery from mixed ore types.
• Strong technical skills in metallurgical test work, plant optimization, and process audits for gold recovery.
• Proficiency in modern gold processing techniques and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Demonstrated capability in health and safety compliance within processing environments.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of cyanide detoxification processes and environmental compliance for gold plants.
• Strong people management and team leadership skills to guide metallurgical and technical teams.
