Job description:

Overall Job Purpose

  • The purpose of this role is to lead and develop the condition monitoring and lubrication team to improve the reliability and availability of process plant assets by implementing and executing an effective condition monitoring and lubrication strategy.

Specific Job Responsibility

  • Ensure compliance of the team with safety procedures, standards and activities.
  • Monitor that the work management process is followed and that all the lubrication and condition monitoring PM’s are executed.
  • Provide the necessary resources for the team to execute their work in a safe and technically correct manner.
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive database with all the condition monitoring inspections and alerts.
  • Implement effective reporting, communication and interaction with the other sections to ensure the condition monitoring alerts as actioned.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for the subordinates, including ongoing training and development, performance management, conflict management and crisis management.
  • Ensure the right people are in the right job.
  • Put in place an agreed succession plan for all positions including your own. Discuss the performance with the team members against Planning KPI’.
  • Provide support to the sections for RCA and participate in RCA investigations on significant incidents as necessary.
  • Evaluate and recommend new condition monitoring technologies and methodologies to enhance existing systems.
  •  Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methodologies to improve the lubrication strategies and execution.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Certification in predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis at Level II, NDT Level II and Other. Oil analysis, thermography and Ultrasonic or Ultrasound certification will be an added advantage.
  • Able to prepare basic training material on the condition monitoring techniques employed in the process plant.
  • Must be computer literate i.e., MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project.

  • Must have good record keeping skills and be able to achieve targets with minimal supervision.
  • Have good communication skills in the English language with an emphasis on writing skills.
  • Must be self-driven.
  • Ability to attend to multiple requests in a timely manner.
  • Good organiser and efficient resource allocator ensuring that both delegated and personally executed tasks are done with a high level of quality.

Experience required to perform in this job

  • At least 10 years condition monitoring experience in the mining industry
  • Proficiency with maintenance and reliability systems (ERP or CMMS, monitoring systems; SCADA, OsiSoft PI and/or databases in general).
  • Experience in fixed plant facilities.
  • Previous experience with RCM, FMEA, MTA or any other equipment strategy identification methodology.
  • Experience with contamination control.
  • Experience in development of equipment health reports.

Qualifications

  • An Engineering degree in a relevant field or significant field experience in Planning and Reliability management
  • At least 5 years in a senior supervisory role.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and having driving experience for 12 months.
