It operates an underground mine in Nampundwe, a refinery in Kitwe, and a crushing & milling plant, a tailings leach plant and a state-of-the-art Smelter in Chingola. To support this vision KCM SmelterCo Limited would like to recruit an experienced and qualified individual for the following positions in the Smelter Department.

2. Shift in Charge – Acid Plant 500 TPD x1
Job Purpose
Will be responsible and have authority for an individual shifts’ operations, safety of personnel and equipment.

Job Accountabilities:
Ensure smooth operation of the plant, compliance to standard operating procedures and maintain control of plant parameters.
Ensure optimum plant availability and reduce down time to achieve production targets.
Also ensure the effective operation of the plant as per the management system requirements of Safety, Health, Environment & Quality and 58 model housekeeping practices maintenance programs of the plant. Ensure effective communication and co-ordination at all levels.
Shift activity recording and reporting through the appropriate books and forms.
Ensure entries and instructions are recorded in the government log book under the correct appointment. Raising, collecting and recording of consumables required for plant operations from stores.

Manpower planning & allocation in shifts, for effective and smooth operation of the plant.
Ensuring attendance of employees and discipline as per code of conduct.
Critical resource monitoring for Utilities, raw and molten Sulphur, Sulphuric acid and man-power.

Requirements:
Grade 12 School Certificate
Degree in Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering
Minimum 3 years industrial experience
Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills Strong problem solving & analysis skills
Registered member of EIZ
