Job description:

Purpose

To supervise the mine cable handling crews, to ensure safety and integrity of cable handling equipment and tools is managed, overall development performance is monitored and efficiency of Cable handlers engaged in electrical driven mining operations

Key Responsibilities

• The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
• Working with Pit Operations to optimise the use of Cable handling equipment in the pit and laydown areas by ensuring that all relevant equipment usage is optimized.
• Investigate new concepts from a safety, productivity and cost saving basis.
• In charge of the operations in relation to all cable reticulation to Electrical Drills and Excavators.
• To coordinate electrical reticulation works with the mining shift supervisor to ensure timely and effective operations.
• Inspects and reports all deficiencies in relation to electrical feed to machines
• Manages and identifies personnel that require training or development on their current duties
• Demonstrates high standards of housekeeping and management of work areas and any other area associated to Cable handling work areas.
•   Performs other related duties that may be required

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Valid Blasting Licence
• Certificate or Diploma on Mining
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Valid Driver’s Licence

Experience

• A minimum of 3 years experience in the mining industry on supervisory level.
• A high level of competency on relevant core business disciplines.
• An Advanced standard of relevant computer literacy.
• The ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.
• Proven track record of supervising and managing people
• Knowledge of Rigging
• Knowledge of handling of high voltage cables
