Job description:
Purpose
Provide Technical Support to the Drilling Operations Team(s) and oversight to all drilling activities, supervise and implement the drilling program, and to ensure that all drilling operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner, within the requirements of Company policy and Country legislations.
Key Responsibilities
- The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
- Act promptly in emergencies to protect life, property, and the environment.
- Ensure that employee safety and welfare are top priorities on the work site.
- Provide training, safety awareness, and workplace inspections for contractors and personnel.
- Discuss weekly plans with Ares Supervisors and stakeholders to ensure they are executed safely and effectively.
- Monitor ongoing processes, suggest improvements, and report on effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and mining regulations.
- Coordinate and lead all activities related to drilling programs, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting.
- Assist Area Supervisors with queries and problem-solving related to drilling operations.
- Monitor equipment availability and adjust production priorities as needed.
- Assess and oversee all drilling activities.
- Maintain positive relationships with other mine groups for smooth operations.
- Schedule and ensure all personnel complete required trainings.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by drilling Coordinators.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and maintain high quality and production standards.
- Optimize resources use to meet targets and goals
- Ensure that safety and welfare of employees is top priority at all times in the work site
- Participate in recommending or executing personnel actions, such as hiring (interviewing), evaluations, promotions and discipline.
Qualifications
- Grade Twelve (12) Certificate or equivalent
- Degree in Mining Engineering or any Related Mining Field
- Supervisory Certificate will be a must
- Blasting License holder
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an open pit mining environment.
- Familiarity with the use of tools, fixtures and equipment for blasting aids
