Job description:

Purpose

  • Facilitate and conduct training programs for students specializing in auto electrical systems at the craft level.
  • Provide comprehensive instruction on the principles, diagnostics, installation, repair, and maintenance of auto electrical systems, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
  • Create an engaging learning environment that integrates real-world automotive scenarios, hands-on exercises, and innovative teaching methods to prepare students for industry challenges.

Key Responsibilities

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to design and update training materials focused on auto electrical systems, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Develop lesson plans, presentations, and practical exercises tailored to craft-level auto electrical training.
  • Supervise and guide students during hands-on activities in controlled environments, simulating real-world auto electrical scenarios.
  • Offer constructive feedback to students on their work and support them in addressing areas for improvement.
  • Integrate modern technologies, such as diagnostic software and simulation tools, into training sessions to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and assessment results.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Training Specialist or relevant supervisor to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Perform other duties or tasks as reasonably assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Minimum Technician Certificate in Auto-Electrical or Related Field
  • Teaching Methodology Qualification

Experience

  • Minimum of three years of experience in the automotive industry, focusing on auto electrical systems, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Proven track record in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems in vehicles, including cars, trucks, and machinery.
  • Experience with integrating diagnostic software and simulation tools into training.
  • Prior experience as a trainer, instructor, or mentor in a technical or vocational setting, preferably in a TEVET institution.
  • Expertise in creating training programs, developing lesson plans, and conducting assessments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of auto electrical systems, components, and tools (e.g., wiring systems, batteries, alternators, starters, diagnostic scanners).
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and motivate students.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and guide students during hands-on activities.
