Job Purpose
Tax Accountant will be responsible of ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, minimizing tax liabilities, and maximizing tax benefits. Analyze financial records, gather tax-related information, and prepare tax returns. Provide tax advice and guidance to senior management and take charge of tax planning when need be.
Summary of Key responsibilities:
- Preparation and filing of tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates
- Researching and interpreting tax laws and regulations
- Providing tax planning advice to the company when needed
- Assisting clients with tax audits and resolving tax disputes
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements and reports
- Communicating with Senior Management and other stakeholders regarding tax matters
- Organize and update the company’s tax database
- Recommend tax strategies that align with business goals
- Prepare necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns
- Share financial data with the accounting department
- Keeping up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations
- Prepare payments, tax returns, reports, and necessary paperwork for the company.
- Identify tax savings and recommend strategies to increase profits.
- Research and analyze difficult tax problems to determine solutions.
- Maintain and manage the organization’s tax database.
- Ensure compliance with regulations by forwarding necessary documents to relevant government authorities.
- Evaluate tax laws and make suggestions to the company to decrease the tax burden.
- Keep track of industrial changes and trends pertaining to taxes.
- Offer guidance and support to the various departments during audits.
- Perform accurate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports.
- Identify and convey difficulties in reporting appropriately, contacting management as needed.
- Maintain and document revisions to departmental procedures on a regular basis.
- Setting timeframes for creating and returning statements and documents to departments
- Managing and mentoring junior staff members

Primary Areas of Accountability:
Qualifications and Experience
- Full CA Zambia, ACCA or CIMA
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in tax accounting with a Multinational Company
- 2-3 year working for an Audit firm in Tax Administration/Consulting will be a plus
- Strong knowledge of the Zambian tax laws and regulations
- Must be a fully qualified and certified accountant
- Demonstrate technical knowledge of tax reporting.
- Experience with tax preparation software
- Experience with tax research tools
- Knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Research orientated with problem-solving skills
- Superior attention to detail with strong organizational, analytical and planning skills
- Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with team in various levels
- Flexible in dealing with change with ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
