Job description:
Purpose
To ensure optimal performance of S3 fixed plant equipment through effective lubrication practices, contamination control, inspections, and proactive maintenance activities for all lubricated mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
1. Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all relevant safety policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
- Follow established health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
2. Lubrication Activities:
- Perform routine lubrication of fixed plant equipment, including conveyor drives, pulley bearings, pumps, auto lubrication systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Conduct routine oil change-outs and maintain lubrication schedules.
- Monitor and analyze lubricant condition through sampling and testing to ensure proper application and contamination control.
3. Inspection and Maintenance Support:
- Inspect equipment for wear and tear and report issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Troubleshoot lubrication-related issues and recommend solutions.
- Assist in developing and implementing lubrication best practices and schedules in collaboration with maintenance teams.
4. Record-Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of lubrication schedules, services performed, and lubrication usage.
- Notify the supervisor of any delays or issues in completing scheduled tasks.
- Report equipment defects or malfunctions promptly.
5. Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for maintenance processes and procedures.
- Make recommendations for additional servicing based on initial inspections.
6. Inventory Management:
- Assist in managing inventory of lubricants and related supplies.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- Craft Certificate in any Engineering field.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to safety.
Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in the mining industry or equivalent private industry.
- Strong knowledge of lubrication systems, oil sampling procedures, contamination control, and lubrication products and applications.
- Proven experience in fixed plant maintenance and repair.
