Job Description

To provide seamless operation, maintenance, and repair of all facilities and infrastructure at the safari camp. This includes guest and team member accommodation, common areas, utilities, and equipment. The role demands strong technical expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair guest and team accommodations to the highest standards of comfort and functionality.
  • Oversee the upkeep of common areas, including lounges, dining spaces, pools, and recreational facilities.
  • Manage essential infrastructure, including access roads, water systems, and communication equipment.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of utility systems, including power generation (solar, diesel, or hybrid systems), water treatment, and waste management.
  • Conduct routine inspections and servicing of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Address breakdowns promptly to minimize disruption to camp operations.
  • Develop and execute a detailed preventive maintenance schedule for all assets.
  • Lead emergency repairs with efficiency to restore operations quickly.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of all systems to preempt potential issues.
  • Supervise and motivate a team of maintenance personnel, ensuring productivity and  accountability.
  • Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and excellence within the team.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities align with the national park’s environmental guidelines. Implement eco-friendly practices, including energy conservation and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate with conservation teams to ensure operations minimally impact the surrounding ecosystem.
  • Plan and manage the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials, ensuring timely procurement and availability.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations set by local authorities and park management.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Train staff on safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Liaise with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Report regularly to management on maintenance activities, challenges, and solutions.
  • Engage with guests as needed to address and resolve maintenance-related concerns.
Qualifications

Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field.

Member of EIZ

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a remote or luxury hospitality setting.

Skills

  • Expertise in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Familiarity with solar power systems and water treatment is advantageous.
  • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills for quick and effective resolutions.
