Job description:

Key Responsibilities

This position will be required to adhere to all requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to safety, health, environment, and quality as well as finance, human resources and other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibility of the function.

The key responsibility shall be to:

  • Understand and execute accountabilities of legal appointment under Zambian Mining Regulations;
  • Maintain HSE standards for self and team; including toolbox talk, planned tasks observation, “Stop, Think and Coach”, hazard identification etc.
  • Exceptional understanding of industrial plant design documentation like Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Operating philosophies and Process Control Functional Specifications is required
  • Deep understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out Best Operational Practice
  • Basic knowledge of the operating principles of a concentrator, including Gyratory Crushing, Cone Crushing, SAG Milling, Ball Milling, Flotation, Thickening and Filtering
  • Assist and advice operations personnel so all the operating and maintenance activities within the plant comply with the standard practices
  • Assist Operations personnel by carrying out plant and equipment isolations, mainly required during all equipment/circuit shutdowns
  • Take active participation in the planning of any activities concerning Lock Out/Tag Out activities
  • Assist Operations with the preparation of all the necessary Lock Out/Tag Out equipment and documentation, facilitating effective and efficient plant isolations
  • Provide Process interface support to the Projects, Engineering and Document Control personnel regarding the Plant Design Change Management System
  • Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement philosophy of the Process team
  • Be proactive so Processing Department consistently delivers and exceeds the main KPI’s of plant throughput, utilisation, recovery and safety
  • Ensure cost consideration taken with all decisions;
  • Carry out any other tasks allocated by the LOTO specialist and shift supervisor – In the context of assessing plant design documentation, participating in the “Change Management” System, and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Work Procedures and Lock Out/Tag out Procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a grade 12 certificate with Credits in English, Mathematics and / or Science
  • Certificate in Mineral Processing, Safety and Occupational health or any other discipline is an added advantage

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in Concentrator operations or related field or relevant qualification.
